Ahead of the forthcoming election into the Delta State Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), there is an alleged ongoing plan by the state Chairman, Ezeko Okwudi Osita to foist themselves and other officers with expired tenures on the union for another four years by subverting the constitution under which the elections are to be conducted.
Mygisthub Online investigation revealed that the current state NULGE executives are operating on illegality considering the fact that their tenure long expired in December 2018 despite the continued cries by members calling for their dissolution.
Following the NULGE constitution which was sited by ‘mygisthub’ the current executive council was elected into office pursuant to rule 10 (ix) of the 2005 NULGE Constitution in January 2014 for a period of four years. Those under the local branch executive committees who were elected into office on the 15th of January 2016 whose tenure of office expired in January 2019 are still operating till date thereby bridging the NULGE constitution of 2005.
However, it was learnt that the state secretary of NULGE have issued a circular calling for nominations for elections of officers into the state executive Council during the 7th Quadrennial state delegates conference scheduled for 26th November 2019.
But feelers have begin to ask questions on why the state NULGE executive council failed to follow transparent process in electing new Excos through the constitutional provisions.
