Delta Community host Dr. Akpoveta, Says God will bless the day he was born to us

OFUOMA COMMUNITY Turns to a fiesta ground as both old and young celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ at the Compound of the Chairman, Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta recently amidst jubilation.

It was a gathering of who is who in Ughelli North and As part of its sensitization activities for the State’s Health Insurance Scheme, the Chairman of the commission pay for a 100 indigent women and men of the community, from above 60yrs of age for free registration and to have access to free healthcare with in their reach. These announcement throw both aged and young into celebration mood as musicians and orator thrill invittees to dance and many swimming in laughter .

According to aljaziral reporters , that when visited, it was a stand still, because as big as the compound , no single space to stand nor sit. The country home of the Commission’s chairman was widely open to all.

High point of the ceremony was the presentations of diffetent awards by Hostcommunity and Ufuoma Community youths who named and gave him the uncommon title of the Awhotu 1 of Ufuoma. Dr. Akpoveta who in his usual style of polite manner filled with happiness. Seen graciously handshaking both young and old .

Just as the Chairman of Hostcom and his team visited with an award as well to spiced up the celebration, Dr. Akpoveta who noted that he dedicates the two awards to Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for giving him a platform to serve his people .

Ompan lament low awareness on sensitization activities for the State’s Health Insurance Scheme,

ONLINE Media Practitionersk Association of Nigeria, OMPAN, Delta State Chapter have alerted on the need to place more emphasis on the sensitization activities for the State’s Health Insurance Scheme, the Delta State Contributory Health Commission to partner with the group for proper advocacy.

According to the group, Deltans needs “Good Health for all” and hence requires collective efforts to sensitized the general public. That proper emphasis has not been placed on the advocacy campaign . Adding that Deltans fall sick every day.

The group explained that in order to improve on quality of advocacy the commission needs to engage relevant groups to sensitized Deltans , so as to improve patient satisfaction on health care delivery as well as focus on how to build a real world and actionable skills that enhance effective healthcare delivery free of charges which is the primary objective of the commission.

The Director General (DG), of the Commission, Dr. Ben Nkechika is the reason for the low awareness sensitization , because he has failed to engage other groups to drive in the awareness campaign. There is need to put a system in place to ensure of speedy and proper advocacy, that the Health insurance scheme is not targeted at just sick people but at healthy persons to continuously keep them healthy.

Okowa, Oboro, Aghoghovbia, Others make case for indegent women & widows

A S A B A — FIRST Lady, Delta State, Dame Edith Okowa, former House of Representative, Barr. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro Esq, and Olorogun Mrs Grace Aghoghovbia, among others eminent women and stakeholders , have called for improved standard of living among youths, men, women and widows .

They made the call during the yuletide celebration, while distributing food items and cash gifts to indegent women, youths and widows across Delta central recently.

They said the provision must be made for a better welfare packages for the widows from both public and private institutions in Delta state.

Chief Mrs Aghoghovbia who was highly represented By chief Mrs Mercy Awana said : ” i do not think being a widow makes u a burden to the society because you are party of the society , we will join hands to improve their standard of living and always give them assistance.

In her remarks, that Mrs Okowa and others are committed in fulfilling their motherly role to us as their followers , that these are people who have passion for supporting us at Christmas , we must also celebrates them and pray for them at our own quiet times, she said;.

Delta Attorney General, Spread Joy with many @christmas, urges Christians to stand in oneness

EDJOPHE – Ughelli South, it was a carnival filled with showers of blessings as people of Edjophe Community dance amidst joy when Barr. Peter Mrakpor, Delta State Commissioner for Justice & Attorney General in his usual styles of assistance, role out gifts items , cash music, food and drinks for old and young.

The distinguished commissioner called on all Deltans to always stand on the side of truth, love and oneness, as he shows virtues of Christ to many Deltans on Christmas. Barr. Peter Mrakpor who is seen always sharing smiles with whoever his eyes behold, when asked said, ” smiles is the greatest instrument of love” i appreciate our Governor and thanked the almighty God for finding me worlthy in these present administration. That God in his infinite mercies will never abadone his sheeps, we are his flocks; he said.

Mrakpor in his statement said, the birth of christ is the season of love, “It is only oneness that can elevate our dear state ,” he maintained.

He expressed disgust over disunity within neighbouring communities that had been experiencing series of clashes, wondering if Ughelli South could not do without crisis.

He further asserted that their is nothing God cannot do. “All powers belong to God , i am not in a competition with any one , but let the will of thy lord be manifested in our lives . that he placed these government in the hands of God.

Also speaking Edjophe community President, assured the Commissioner that the people would continue to pray for Okowa administration and him for a greater Delta.

Meanwhile, all roads leading to Edjophe community where blocked with visitors vehicle movement to and fro as indegenes and visitors where seen walking on a straight file to the hosting event ground, as commissioner erect canopies chairs with nice sensational music band on display , food and beverages were seen share in equal proportion to every one.

The people promised to be united at all cost and show love to one another just as Mrakpor has shown to them. that the absence of peace in the world was the reason for crises and wars.

Here’s my 2019 Christmas message to all Nigerians, Especially Deltans

I rejoice with you all , especially our Christian brothers on these glorious occasion of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ .as it is the most important feast in the Christian calendar and represents God’s redemptive mission over humanity, the triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair and good over evil.

The Christmas festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ is also a time to emulate the virtues of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, humility, courage and endurance, which Christ embodied and remarkably demonstrated during His earthly ministry.

Augoye noted that christians should not be. We must reinforce the bond of brotherhood and good neighbourliness that citizens of a cohesive country must share. We must not allow the few bad elements in our communities to put asunder our communal tendencies and chords of unity.

Okowa administration will do all it takes to adequately equip and motivate our security operatives and other law enforcement agencies to enable them successfully confront these security challenges. We will not allow merchants of evil and death to overwhelm our people.

On this holy occasion, I enjoin all Urhobos to intensify prayers for peace and security to return to all parts of the country. I also urge you not to lose hope of a brighter and greater future for us when we do the right things in love. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Oboro urges Nigerians to offer special prayers for a greater manifestation of divine peace in our society @Christmas

As Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of the savior, Jesus Christ, the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta Central District in the last election, Rt. Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro Esq has enjoined Christians and non-Christians alike all over the world to reflect more deeply on the virtues and ideals of our Lord Jesus Christ which he espoused during his earthly mission.

Oboro who made this known in a Christmas message to Christians all over the world, especially the Urhobo people thanked God Almighty for the divine gift of Jesus Christ the Messiah whose earthly incarnation Christians commemorate on every December 25th.

She said the greater internalization of the virtues of love for our brothers and sisters, tolerance, Godliness, honesty, fairness to others, selflessness, and peaceful co-existence with others, will definitely help us to overcome most of the present challenges we face today in the society.

“As we celebrate his birth, I urge all in the society to offer special prayers for a greater manifestation of divine peace in our society and the subjugating of all demons of hatred, divisiveness and disunity in our midst.

“Let us take into cognizance that it is also a season to renew hope about the possibilities to make a break from years of decay and achieving genuine transformation that would reach across all homes and individuals. In this season of goodwill, we must remember in prayer those who are less fortunate than ourselves, our elderly, disabled, the sick and vulnerable ones among us. I wish all families much happiness, good health, today and throughout the coming year”, she added.

Oborevwori preaches humility, sacrifice at Christmas

The Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has implored Christians to allow humility to take the centre stage in their lives and make sacrifice for one another.

In his Christmas message, the Speaker called for total reflection on the story of the birth of Jesus Christ and work hard to emulate his examplary life style of love and unity, describing him as epitome of humility and sacrifice.

The Speaker in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Dennis Otu, said Jesus Christ made sacrifice for mankind through his birth and Ultimate Sacrifice on the Cross, imploring Christians to use the Yuletide Season to be there for one another always.

He said “ Let us use the Yuletide Season to show one another love. In all that we do now and always, let humility take the centre stage because Jesus Christ that we are celebrating this period was very humble and he was given birth to for us to have Salvation”.

“Let us strive continously to be humble because that is what Jesus Christ stood for. We should not be carried away, but we should use this occasion to reflect deeply on the lifestyle and teachings of Jesus Christ. We should at this Season reflect on the lessons of the birth of Jesus Christ. Let truth, humility and honesty reign in our hearts this Season and always. In Spirit of the Yuletide, let us give a helping hand to one another in the best way that we can; we should share joy and love of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind”, he added.

According to him also; ” I pray that this joyous season end the present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright new year full of bountiful blessings for each and everyone of us. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year”.

Federal High Court awards N50m damages against the Nigerian Army for murder of Otunba Ajayi Oladele.

The Federal High Court sitting in Warri delivered judgment in the case of Mrs. Esther Oladele & Ors. v. The Nigerian Army & Ors. Suit No. HHC/WR/CS/93/2017. The Plaintiffs who are the widow and the infant children of late Otunba Ajayi were represented by Kunle Edun pro bono. The Plaintiffs’ case was that officers of the Nigerian Army were contracted by a businesses to recover debt allegedly owed by the late Otunba Ajayi. The deceased was arrested in Warri by soldiers from the Army Brigade in Benin city. The deceased was beaten and had his spinal chord broken by the soldiers during the beating. The soldiers had to rush him to the military hospital in Benin and called his wife, the 1st Plaintiff, to make arrangement to take her husband home. The late Otunba died few minutes after the soldiers dropped him on the floor of the emergency room of the Central Hospital, Warri.
