According to the 14-year victim, Happiness reportedly lured him into his mother’s shop in the early hours of the day and stripped him naked after she had packed some beverages. ONLINE JOURNALISTS DECRY ALLEGED INTIMIDATION FROM SECURITY OPERATIVES

Chairman of the Association of Online Media Practitioners in Nigeria, Wole Arisekola has decried alleged intimidation from security operatives.

The group in a statement in Abuja signed by its chairman said the way security operatives have continued to clamp down on online journalists is unacceptable.

In his words, “I think I am not comfortable now with what is happening in Nigeria with our professional colleagues, I mean the online journalists. You write something about someone that is in bad light, that person can take you to court, it is not a criminal offence but a civil offence but now am so surprised that DSS, is what the politicians are using to intimidate people.”

Speaking further, Arisekola said, ‘I have taken the matter to the Inspector General of Police, we’ve never had it so bad in Nigeria where people will be taken to police station, detain there, taken to court, prison, why? When someone writes something about you and you think it is illegal, it’s a libel case and not a criminal offence.’

In conclusion Arisekola lauded the media for not compromising on freedom of speech and expression even as he lamented the activities of bloggers who flout copyrights laws

Xenophobic: Delta Commissioner for works Condemned South Africa out bust on Nigeria, says it is a barbaric act

Chief James Augoye, Delta commissioner for works shows sympathy on fellow Nigerians been killed , miam , humiliated and brutalised , turned homeless, that with serious concern the worsening Xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals in South Africa in which Nigerians have been major victims. We have had enough of our citizens being targets of attacks in South Africa their actions is evil and barbaric .

Such act of Xenophobic violence is condemnable anywhere; more so in South Africa, a country whose citizens benefitted from the unwavered support and solidarity of Africans and freedom lovers across the world in their historic struggle against apartheid.

It is unacceptable irony that a section of South Africans would so soon, after now, choose other Africans in their country as the targets of mindless violent attacks over frustrations for which the innocent victims have no control.
