NUJ call for STATE OF EMERGENCY ON OKPANAM ROAD

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State to declare a state of emergency on Okpanam Road in the Asaba capital territory, revoke the contract and give it to a competent contractor.

The NUJ in a statement made available to the press and endorsed by the Chairman and Secretary of the council, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu and Comrade Churchill Oyowe respectively, said that the Okpanam Road, particularly the Okpanam axis had been under construction for over eight year without completion.

The statement described the state of Okpanam Road as an embarrassment to the Asaba capital territory and counterproductive to the promotion of the numerous road projects embarked upon and completed by the government of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Okpanam.

It said that Okpanam Road was too strategic to the Asaba capital territory to be left at the pace work had been going on, saying observation over the years indicated that whenever the contractor made two steps forward, the flood would drag the progress backward by three steps, blaming the ugly trend on the inconsistent progression of work by the contracting firm handling the road.

According to the NUJ, work had stopped for some time now in the construction of the road and the rainy season would soon enter its peak period, stressing that the progress made in recent time before the stoppage of work might come under serious threat as experienced in the past.

The union therefore blamed the poor state of the road on incompetence of the contractor handling the job, thereby called on the state governor to give dedicated attention to finally complete the Okpanam Road by all possible means.

While thanking the governor for the massive award of road contracts across the Lenght and Bredth of Delta State, and the completion of some, the union, once again, congratulated him on his overwhelming victory at the gubernatorial poll on 9th March, 2019 and wished him greater success in the second tenure.

Buhari applaud Shimite Bello on Sabificate introduction, Says your certificate is useless without handwork

Editor-aljaziralreporters

ABUJA – President Mohammedu Buhari yesterday slammed Nigerian Students to get involved in any trade of their choice to backup their certificate because there is no employment in any sector in the country. if you do not learn a trade or have a hand work after obtaining your Certificate, you will be useless because there is no white collar job anywhere.

T hose even who ought to retired at 60, sworn affidavits that they at 40 at 55, you have to wait for another 15years before you take over from them.

What is obtainable now in Nigeria is sabificate which was been introduced to our amiable youths and women in Delta State by Chief Mrs Shimite Bello that federal government has urged all Nigeria youths to embrace the introduction of Sabificate of Chief Mrs Shimite Bello of they want to succeed in life.

According to Buhari, ‘ Education is good , but it becomes useless if the knowledge you acquired doesn’t have positive effect in your immediate society.

Schools in Nigeria didn’t have provision for practical hence we are still crawling in terms of development.

The idea is this, as an apprentice in an automobile mechanic workshop, after 4years of Practicals, such individual will be admitted on the basis of acquiring a formal education, as well enhanced his knowledge on the theoretical accept as a mechanical engineer.
With this, we won’t see quacks or paper engineers that can’t even tie a bolt.
This is only applicable to professional courses except medicine.

We should start thinking as individuals and stop playing politics with the reality on ground.
As an individual, the president got me thinking.
Government job is modern way of enslaving the people. But keep to it because man must survive.
How many politicians children are in the Nigeria police or civil service job?

Your certificate is useless without a hand work.

Investigation reveals how Ukah divert Ministry money meant for advert to govt Special announcement

ASABA — The Commissioner for Information illegally diverted monies from the Ministry of information that are meant for advert on Pointer Newspaper, collects it and convert it to government special announcement

Matters arising, the diversion details are coming amidst revelations from accusations the Commissioner for Information, Patrick Ukah and his unholy act of assault on Pointer Reporters who dare ask him questions relating to the down fall of pointer and DBS money spending without appropriation by the management.

But aljaziral reporters press has now confirmed that the Commissioner for information led leadership does whatever he likes — without required consultation with either DBS nor Pointer Management– tampered media houses funds at will, and also done without the mandatory appropriation by the various organizations directors.

That even the Executive governor of the state , Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa promised the Agency of Belgium cars to be used by the staffs of Pointer Newspaper from their Internal Generated Revenue (IGR), it was alleged that the Commissioner ate all the monies in the name of preparing antiquated printing mechines that the ministry of information has used and abadon for pointer Newspaper to use.

” All the monies saved by the immediate past General manager, almost 30million naira vanish into tin air..what a ministry?

We all sings praises of Okowa , aka the road master! And yet he doesn’t gives ear to all these.and he is fondly called by appointment seekers the listening Governor. ” Up till now I have not regain my consciousness when I held that our Delta State broadcasting station is the worst in Nigeria. Yet the government and the Ministry cannot deem it fits to subscribe to the two media houses owned by the state.

Yet Ukah is still lobbying to retain his commissionship, well I understand that the Delta State House of Assembly is a rubber stamp institution whereby, when names are been summitted, individuals are being ask to take a bow and leave , no proper investigation and scrutiny of summited candidates. I pity our beloved Delta.

Read how NUJ Delta Assures Group of synergy Towards Good Governance, Advocates For Sustainable Dev.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has assured a group known as the Revive Africa Initiative of collaboration towards ensuring that government at all levels are held accountable for good governance.

The chairman of the Council, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu made this assertion while playing host to members of the group during a courtesy visit at the NUJ Press Centre in Asaba, Delta State.

According to the chairman, “it is worthy to acknowledge that our youths are beginning to come to terms with the reality of how badly our leadership has hurt the people of this country with their lack of purposeful programmes and policies for good governance.

Our major challenge in Africa is leadership. We have become a ground for experiment by the developed nations.

I must commend you as youths, for this initiative you have taken up towards addressing issues that affect us as a people and continent.

I assure you that as progressive members of the fourth estate of the realm, we are always poised to support any initiative that is geared towards development and revival of Africa.

From your programmes and agenda, both in the areas of education activism, fight against environmental degradation and youth reorientation, I must let you know that not enough awareness had been created to inform the public of the efforts you are making. But be rest assured that we will partner with you in media publicity and suggestions of ideas to guide you in some of the initiatives you will be working on going forward”, Ikeogwu affirmed.

The amiable chairman, however, decried the lack of focus of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC towards the actual needs and development of the Niger Delta region.

He called on the Federal Government to do a total overhaul of the Commission to enable it actualise its purpose for being established and see to it that the Niger Delta environment is safe for living, including implementing the Ogoni Clean-Up agreement.

The River Africa Initiative, led by its Director General, Amb. Comrade Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole said that the group decided to pay the courtesy visit to the NUJ as a critical stakeholder in leadership and development affairs.

The DG who gave the history of the group as having spanned for a period of two years, recounted that they started with prison activism where innocent detainees were released through the collaborative support of an international lawyer, Prince Ned Nwoko.

As part of its agitation, Comrade Ogheneyole said the group is into advocacy for prison decongestion, proper education and return to school campaigns, safe environment and violent free Niger Delta region.

The group equally affirmed that as part of its concern towards insecurity and violence in the Niger Delta, a Peace and Security Summit was recently organised at Koko in Delta State, with critical stakeholders, including youths drawn from all ethnic groups in the Niger Delta in attendance.

The DG in a nutshell, called for the partnership of the NUJ in propagating its programmes and objectives to the public. He therefore, handed over the communiqué released from the Security Summit, where a Committee known as the Peace Advancement Initiative Committee was set up.

Moreover, the leader of the Revive Africa Initiative, Comrade Ogheneyole called for the support of NUJ towards its planned mass rally in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State on the 5th of June, 2019, to draw the attention of government to the environmental degradation of the Niger Delta in marking the World Environmental Day.

UGBORODO holds mother of protest against Chelvron’s in humanity to Itsekiri people

The peaceful protest is going on steadily as planned and it’s been total shut down, with no entry or exit from Chevron, Ugborodo.

However, to avoid any form of confusion and hijack of the protest by enemies of Ugborodo progress, it is important to inform and update our comrades and compatriots in the struggle that the security agencies in the area have just rounded off a meeting at Ode-Ugborodo with the Austin Oborogbeyi-led Ugborodo Community Management Committee (UCMC) and some key elders of the community.

The top security agents pleaded with us to allow some crew boats and personnel trapped inside the Chevron Tank Farm since Sunday to exit the premises. We have since blocked the only entry and exit point for Chevron boats in the area. After so much appeals and further consultations, we have agreed to give them four (4) hours only to exit such Chevron crew boats from the premises but NEVER to come back UNTIL our demands are met. Their 4 hours grace starts now! At the expiration of the 4 hours grace, the total shutdown SHALL continues indefinitely. Both the security agencies and Chevron have agreed to this UCMC very clear position.

Suffice it to say that we are giving this concession to Chevron at this point to enable them carry out some vessel movements in response to fire emergency at Ojumole Well Head site.

We also welcome Diane Christensen, the Supply Chain Management Superintendent in Ugborodo, Escravos who resumed today. Feedbacks from our brothers and sisters in Ugborodo indicate that she is a mother to all.

We are not joking. Aluta continua, victoria acerta!

SIGNED

For and on behalf of UCMC:

Comrade Alex Eyengho
(Director of Strategic Communication of the protest and executive member of UCMC).

Letter To Patrick Ukah, despite the war song you fails to upgrade DBS, Pointer Newspaper

Dear Sir!Good day, Sir! I am quite aware that your ministry pays some social Media every month with a token of #75,000 Naira leaving the qualified media practitioners with nothing in the state. Though I believe your busy schedule at moment, let me be brief Sir.Being an Information Commissioner, the job is no bread and tea though ! you have failed Deltans especially the Smart Governor who appointed you, Okowa must be feeling regrets and incompetency of your person, Majority of Deltans complains of your inabilities to position the state media house. especially Pointer Newspaper and DBS staffs over your failure to upgrade these two noble media houses with state of the art facilities. Just as Deltans cries over the poor production of DBS Asaba and warri. Yet you sing high praises of yourself taking Chieftaincy tittles with state Money meant for the upgrade of media houses in the state. With due respect sir, can you come in the open and tell us what and what are the duties of those facebook handlers you pay monthly with the above sum mentioned? Sir your performance has rated you very low in the league of Delta State Commissioners.

FACT-SHEET: What Okowa administration has achieved in Four years through Shimite Bello Says Salami

ASABA- The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agnecy, Mr Salami Onisuru has described Chief Mrs Shimite Bello as Okowa Workaholic Daughter because of her many developmental ideas that have help to promote the Smart Agenda of Governor Okowa administration since she resumed office as the Secretary to the Agency.

Our priority Sectors of agriculture and small and medium Enterprises have seen improved performance, in spite of the down pour of oil in recent times. Even at a time of low oil prices (and by implication low government revenues), yet Chief Mrs Shimite Bello seems winning accolades for the state because of her passion and drive for humanity Development.

” I the Chairman of the Agency must say the Alleged 100m diversion that they said was discovered by the so -called supervising ministry as published by one Secretreporter is nothing but a total propaganda filled with lies and figment of blackmail from mischief makers.

Urged the public to disregard such false publications, it is the act of envy and hatrad from the dying ministry of information Boss who felt the same way he granded pointer Newspaper and DBS, that every other agency will also face retrogression as his.

The Scheme has also made it possible for Farmers and small scale business owners to get loan at will. Support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises: Okowa Administration has launched a series of funding and capacity development initiatives designed to support MSMEs across the State both young and old.

Shimite ideas has enable the Agencies provide direct support to the Agency. The Interactions allow the Agencies better understand the issues facing small businesses, and provides a platform for speedy resolution.

Fashola an associate of darkness that now plagues our city

The terror of darkness unleashed by this individual remains unparalleled in the history of my sojourn on earth.
DARKNESS
This word, needs no explanation to any kid since the inception of this CHANGE. Actually, what we try to show our kids today is the meaning of 💡. We have become experts at wading through the dark, we struggle daily to overcome, the associates of darkness such as:
Sleepless nights – the night suddenly became restless as kids can’t cope with heat rashes and unsolicited music from DJ-mosquitoe. Their cries keep parents awake trying to employ all means to help, yet even that is impossible because the landlord has not pumped water in 2days hence we can’t bath the kids with the only water remaining so they can at least get some to use in the morning. The shower heads are simply bathroom decor since the minister of darkness came through.

crime – another associate of darkness that now plagues our city. The dark corners now provide safe havens for youths who before now could use light at night to engage in some trade but CHANGED to this new way of dispossessing others of their belonging.
We now budget more for security monthly than we do for food. Every neighborhood pays for ‘mopo’ or vigilante under compulsion. The minister ensures that crime businesses thrives by providing them an enabling environment – darkness.

Sickness – As Dj-mosquito anchors the night, she ensures that malaria is given free of charge to everyone. If you don’t want it, then you must increase your budget for repellants and fumigation because Aso Rock itself does so too. The only challenge here is, as you increase your budget, chances are that you can’t increase income as productivity drops with darkness.

Productive minds who spend their night in creating ideas can’t function much as the minister ensure there’s no light to write, laptops are powerless, service providers charge more, hence data for research is too expensive, generator sounds keep the night as noisy as the day…..

Yet the minister is asking us who is behind this darkness?
He even thinks it is me – he thinks I don’t pay enough bill, so he jacks up the price yet the darkness is there. His men harass my neighborhood daily checking meters, querying usage in the midst of no supply – pure madness.

Oga minister, when the roll is called on this nations output, please be reminded that the bulk of unproductivity rests on darkness – the ministry which you head.
