DELTA APC CRISIS WORSEN As Emerhor says he is Senator -elect, Omo-Agege knows !

Delta State All Progressives Congress, APC leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, has address the massive supporters of the senator representing Delta Central senatorial district, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege stating that, “Omo-Agege was at no time the candidate of the party nor was he at any time the Senator-elect” for the district.

Olorogun Otega Emerhor Emerhor’s reaction is coming on the heels of the ruling by the Federal High Court, Asaba, which upheld the legitimacy of the Chief Cyril Ogodo led executive as the authentic APC executive in the state, saying, “Omo-Agege knows I’m now the Senator-elect.”

Emerhor in a statement yesterday explained that the mainstream of the APC in Delta State which he led, produced the Ogodo led executive which accommodates over 70 percent of leaders and members of the party alongside over five governorship aspirants in the state. Based on the ruling, Emerhor who emerged as candidate for Delta central under the Ogodo led executive, said: “The Ogodo-Exco produce by the mainstream has always been the authentic executive. We only had a period when an illegal Exco was foisted on the party. What the court did on its Monday ruling was just to restore the legal Exco into its proper position. “I emerged as the Delta Central senatorial candidate against Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who emerged from the Prophet Jones Erue Exco which the court has now declared illegal. Legally and physically, you can’t build anything on nothing.

Omo-Agege built his candidature on nothing and it has given way and has collapsed. But this is beyond just me and Omo-Agege as the mainstream also had a governorship candidate, Prof Pat Utomi, 3 senatorial candidates, 10 House of Representatives and 29 houses of assembly aspirants. “This case is testing the rule of law and party due process. APC won a number of positions during the general elections. Recall that the Asaba high Court on October 17th 2018, restrained the APC national not to submit any candidates list to INEC and INEC not to accept any candidates list from the APC before the determination of the case. Any list APC went ahead to submit and INEC accepted respectively was in contempt of court order.

Omo-Agege as a lawyer cannot boast that the ruling has no consequences as the so-called consent judgment they keep building their hope on only dealt with the congress election of wards and LGA Excos and not the primaries of candidates and in any case, was dealt a death blow at their own appeal to the appeal court in Benin and at the Asaba federal high court.

Omo-Agege knows I’m now the Senator-elect! “So, legally and in reality, Omo-Agege was at no time the candidate nor was he at any time the Senator-elect. Same for the other positions were APC won in Delta State. Not until the court ruling on Monday when the court authenticated me and others from the Ogodo Exco primaries can anyone legally claim to be the Senator-elect or any other position in Delta APC. “Omo-Agege as a lawyer cannot boast that the ruling has no consequences. The so-called consent judgment they keep building their hope on only dealt with the congress election of wards and LGA Excos and not the primaries of candidates and in any case, was dealt a death blow at their own appeal to the appeal court in Benin and at the Asaba federal high court.”

RATTAWU Shuts Down DBS Warri Over Epileptic Operations, Dilapidated Equipment … Calls on Gov. Okowa to intervene urgently

By Emeka Nwokocha

Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), Delta Broadcasting Service, Warri Chapter, has finally suspended all work activities at the station following a work-to-rule action commenced by its members today, Wednesday 20 March, leading to a shutdown of the Delta Rainbow Television (DRTV) and Melody FM radio station.

A visit to the DBS, along NPA Express way, Edjeba-Warri, in Warri south local government area, tells the story better, as the workers diligently wear a red ribbon on their wrist, signifying unalloyed solidarity to their union in its effort to righting the many wrongs bedeviling the Delta state owned station, and getting it take its pride of place in the broadcasting industry.

Commenting on the development, Comr. Isaac Oboh, Chairman of RATTAWU, DBS, Warri, lamented the decrepit state of the station in recent time, even as he attributed the protracted woes bedevilling the broadcasting house to poor management.

Comr. Oboh noted that DBS had been enmeshed in administrative quagmire, a development he said seriously hinders the growth of the state owned broadcasting house over the years.

Reeling out some of the inherent challenges in the station, Comr. Oboh said the operational vehicles have broken down, except one, which often breaks down anytime it goes for operation. Stating that the absence of functional equipment at the broadcast station is enormously limiting its operations.

Continuing, the RATTAWU Chairman said “the radio signals “go off and on” during the rainy season for nonavailability of thunder arrestor, a basic protective equipment.

“In this era of technological innovation, instead of using microwave links to connect to our transmitters, we use physical lines that are vulnerable to lightning and thunder strike,” he stated.

Adding, “the situation is so pathetic as DBS, Warri currently depends fully on public power supply. Meaning, when power is interrupted, our TV and Radio signals automatically go off air because we can no longer transmit our programmes, until whenever power is restored.”

Comr. Oboh however noted that the broadcast station has a brand new 500KVA power generator which has not been installed, including a relatively new 350KVA power generator whose problem is simply lack of maintenance. He wondered why power supply would be a hectic and insurmountable issue that regularly brings the operations of DBS, Warri to a halt.

He called on governor Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene urgently in the epileptic operation of the broadcast station, stressing that the station has dedicated and efficient manpower to deliver quality service if the right equipment and comfortable work atmosphere is put in place.

Reacting to the role of the administrative board of the station in recent time, Comr. Oboh said, “no meaningful development has been attracted to the station since the board was inaugurated.

Speaking on the work-to-rule action, Comr. Sonia Unobunjo, Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), DBS Warri Chapel, said that the exercise was meant to compel the management of DBS, Warri to put its acts together to ensure the operations of the broadcast station are improved in all ramifications.
“We have decided to embark on work-to-rule action in the hope that it would bring to fruition the work tools and conducive environment we seriously demand to make us efficient in our duties.

“Recall, we have some pending issues since February 2018 which we have presented to management but still, nothing has been done till date. The reason the management has kept mute over the issues, I do not know. Again, It will surprise you to know that we don’t have water in our toilet facilities, even the smallest work tool, “broom” for cleaning the environment is a scare resource.”

Continuing, Comr. Sonia expressed concern about the untidy condition of the station, saying “the environment is taken over by weeds to the extent that reptiles invade offices.”

Lamenting the state of the News and Current Affairs Department of the station, Comr. Sonia said more than 20 dedicated senior and junior reporters, including senior correspondents come to work without basic work tools to do their duties.

“Would anybody say that the two cameras Delta State government gave to the station not quite long ago, is all the news department needs? As a media house, the news and current affairs, marketing and programmes departments need cameras to function optimally. The truth is, if there is a breaking news, we cannot get to the spot with our full work paraphenelia, because vehicle is a challenge, even cameras too.”

She continued, “even papers and ink to print reports are often not available at the news department. These are minor materials needed for the day-to-day running of the station. We don’t need governor Ifeanyi Okowa to provide this little materials for the station. We don’t need the governor to provide water pumping machine for the station.”
Comr. Sonia said, “since the instrument of dialogue had exhaustively been used to call the attention of the DBS board, and the management to the pressing issues, still nothing had been done, then the work to rule action becomes inevitable.”

“Perhaps, our crying out will bring the long expected change,” she stated.

Saraki’s Loyalists Will Not Be Among Senate Leadership –Omo-Agege

By Felix Igbekoyi

ASABA – Barrister Ovie Omo-Agege, Senator Representing Delta Central, has vowed that no one remotely connected with Senator Bukola Saraki agenda will be allowed into the leadership of the Senate.

Omo-Agege, who also gave an insight into how the next leadership of the National Assembly would be selected, lamented that for almost three of the four years of Buhari’s first four years, those he termed as Saraki’s relegates regime made sure all agenda of the government were shot down.

According to him, this was necessary to avert a repeat of events of the out-going Assembly, where the agenda of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was truncated due to the Saraki factor.

Omo-Agege maintained that the APC leaders were determined to ensure that there was no repeat, and that the only way to do that was to ensure that President Buhari, as leader of APC, would consult with the party’s caucus on who should emerge Senate President.

While saying there was no time he said Buhari would handpick the next Senate President and other principal officers for the Ninth National Assembly, he also said he had not told anyone that he would run for the Senate Presidency.

“For that reason, we are saying, it is the party’s caucus that will meet in consultation with Mr President and decide and recommend for the leadership position. And Mr President is the head of that caucus. We’ll no longer allow relegates to govern the National Assembly. When they did the last time, you saw what happened,” he stressed.

The lawmaker said though he was as qualified as any other ranking senator to be Senate President, “I have not told anybody that I am interested in running for the Senate Presidency. But, having said that, I am just as qualified as any other ranking senator of the Ninth Senate.

“So, when the time comes, depending on the decision made by the caucus of the party – Mr President and other relevant stakeholders – and depending on where it is zoned to. After the zoning, we consult ourselves and comply with the rules.”

My husband sleeps with our three daughters, impregnated my sister – wife alleges in court

A 63- year-old businesswoman, Mrs Mabel Alli, on Friday prayed an Igando Customary Court in Lagos, to end her 41-year-old marriage to husband, Richard, alleges that he sleeps with their daughters and has impregnated her sister.
She told the court that her husband sexually molested all their three daughters and was a womaniser.

“After impregnating my sister, he took one of our daughters to the hospital to have an abortion.

“My 13-year-old girl also reported to me that he always sneaks into her room to have intercourse with her.

“I have caught my husband red handed on top of our third daughter. My friends and domestic staff are not exempted, I have caught with them too” the petitioner alleged.

The petitioner said that her husband was fetish and also wanted to use her for money ritual in order to finance his political ambition.

“He has taken me to various herbalists in Badagry, Sango and other places for money ritual; I followed him because he said it was for goodwill.

“I stopped following him to herbalists when the last herbalist he took me to asked me to come alone the following day but I went with one of our daughters.

“He told me that I should stop following my husband about and should run for my life as he wanted to use me for ritual or make me mad, so he can inherit my properties which include cars and houses.

“My husband collects money from me using charms, spent it on his political ambition but he eventually lose the election.

Mabel alleged that her husband does not take care of the children.

“Everything rests on me, I shoulder all his responsibilities of feeding the family, paying the children school fees among other responsibilities.

”I beg the court to terminate this union. I am no longer interested because my husband wants to kill me,” she told the court.

However, Richard, who denied all the allegations, welcomed the divorce suit, saying he too was no longer interested in the marriage.

He claimed that he was the source of his wife’s wealth.

After listening to the submissions of the estranged couple, the President of the Court, Mr Adeniyi Koledoye, adjourned the case until May 2, for judgment.
