UGHELLI – Coalition of Clergymen , Elders Forum has accussed the leadership of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) of corruption and abuse of leadership, the Combined Bishops and Ministers Council of Nigeria, South-South, Delta chapter, a clergy group under PFN (Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria), one of the five blocs of CAN (Christian Association of Nigeria) with over 6000 members has dissociated itself from the Rally held at Heroes Of Faith Church where Pastor Kingsley Enekirhere decieved us all to come for a Christian Summit, “we never knew he wants to endorse Okowa for the March 2, governorship election by PFN and CAN.
At a press briefing held in Ughelli, Thursday, Feb 14, the Council led by Bishop Johnson Ojakovo said the decision to separate themselves from the endorsement of the governor was an overreach of their mandate in the vineyard of God. The clergymen frowned at the level of corruption within the Christian community.” We where all been denied , ” saying that PFN Chair refused them and did not make provision for any of the clergymen excerpt Bishops that are close to him . Many of the pastors who register their annoyance call for immediate emergency meeting to consider the issues raised and set up a panel for investigation of the led Enekirhere leadership as Delta chair Chapter of PFN and if found guilty, he should tender his resignation letter. But for now, Enekirhere and his executive should be suspended depending when the investigation
According to Archbishop-Elect, Dr Austine Imuero, Presiding Bishop of Destiny of Life Ministries, Ovwian; the process of the endorsement given to Gov Okowa by the PFN late last month was a deception orchestrated by the President of PFN, Bishop Kingsley Enakirerhi of Heroes of Faith, Ughelli.
“We were deceived to attend the event. They told us it was a summit for all pastors of PFN but when e got there, we found it was a political meeting during which they endorsed the governor.
“We are not politicians. We are not happy at the way we were deceived by the leadership of PFN. We are clergy men, we should not support any particular politician and we were supposed to pray for all politicians.
“Nobody should compel us on who to vote for. Nobody should come and pressurize us to vote for the incumbent governor. We therefore dissociate ourselves from the endorsement of Okowa and remain neutral on the issue of politics.
“Before the endorsement, PFN leadership was going round the 25 LGAs of Delta state, supposedly to strengthen the PFN but during the meetings they were preaching the endorsement of Gov Okowa.”
He said CAN also adopted the same deception to attract church leaders from various blocs of CAN to the Public Field, Ughelli recently purportedly for a CAN rally and prayer for peaceful election.
“They told us it was a CAN rally but because of what happened earlier in the PFN summit we were cautious that they wanted to play on us again and some of us refused to attend the Ughelli show where they once again endorsed Gov Okowa for a second term in office.
“Their intention was to force all church members to vote for Gov Okowa with a threat that any church leader who refused to carry out the directive would be labeled a rebel and we that stood out are being declared as rebels and we are happy to be so named and we are not afraid of their threat.”
He alleged that so much money was given by the governor to the leadership of PFN on the day of the endorsement, which led to commotion among the clergymen.
‘We are angry and dissociate ourselves from the endorsements because what they are doing is contrary to the word of God and they are setting a bad example for the younger generation of clergy.” Imuero said.
In attendance at the press briefing were: Bishop Johnson Ojakovo, Archbishop-elect, Austine Imuero, Bishop Dr Oghenegueke Gideon, Bishop Dr Martins Echegbe, Apostle Dr Godspower Obotuke, Apostle Dr King Enajite Ohwonohwo and Apostle Lucky Imonie.
All effort to reach the leadership of the PFN Delta state chapter prove abortive.
