Residents of Delta State are increasingly worried over the worsening electricity crisis that has plunged many communities into prolonged darkness, raising questions about the role of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) and the seeming silence of government authorities.

Across major towns and semi urban centres, the blackout has disrupted businesses, healthcare delivery and daily life, forcing families and traders to rely heavily on costly generators.

At the centre of public concern is the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, as many residents now openly ask whether BEDC is operating beyond the control of the state or working in quiet collaboration with government officials to sustain what they describe as “perpetual darkness” across the state.

The absence of clear explanations from relevant agencies has further fuelled suspicion and public frustration.

The Executive Chairman of the Ughelli North Local Government Council, Chief Barr. Jaro Egbo, has extended warm goodwill messages to residents of Ughelli North Local Government Area as the month of March begins, urging the people to remain hopeful, united and focused on collective progress.
